Mary Circelli, Artist
Photography, Poloroid manipulations and fine art.
A photograph is an image of something as it once was.
Central Ohio photographer Mary Circelli begins with this reality and alters it to create another image similar to first….but gives it nuances and modifications that make it closer to art than to actuality. Circelli, a retired news photographer, has won numerous local and state awards for her news, feature and food photography during her 37 year career at The Columbus Dispatch. During that time, she used Polaroid film to create different types of images for the newspaper publication. Polaroid Manipulations: allow the manipulation of the photographs’ colors and composition by hand on the film. Polaroid Image Transfers: are images captured on Instant film and through a multi-stepped process are transferred by hand onto watercolor paper. Each are original images.
