Randy Vermillion, Mixed Media
Downtown skyline dawn and dusk, single image and panoramics.
My mixed media pieces are a blend of my photography and hand-crafted frames.
My interest and love of photography began when I was published in grade school. I stayed active in H.S. as a photographer on the Yearbook staff. I attended the Ohio State University. I have called Columbus my home staying active in photography ever since. I print my images onto aluminum and then build the frames myself from reclaimed barn wood using distressed metal as the mat. I work very hard to achieve the best combination of the optimum printing of my image, the distressed metal and the right barn wood made into a quality frame. My print photography style leans toward the vivid and colorful, with no particular subject, except I work “outdoors” quite a bit! Using Canon bodies and glass I favor longer exposures at dusk or dawn, panoramas, and High Dynamic Range (HDR) compilations. Since minoring in photography at The Ohio State University I made the transition to digital willingly and I work to stay at the leading edge of trends and opportunities.
